A Brand New Year 2018!

It’s hard to believe we are already into a brand New Year—2018. Last Sunday was a rough day for our attendance. The weather was cold, folks out of town and others sick. We still had folks who were present and the Lord gave us a good service. I preached from Psalm 90 which is the only Psalm written by Moses which makes the Psalm the oldest of all the Psalter. Moses challenges his people to enter the Promised Land by remembering the eternal God. God is the one who punished them for the sin of unbelief and so they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. A whole generation died who would not possess the Promised Land. Moses reminded the people of the brevity of man. “The days of our years are threescore years and ten: and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and we fly away.” (vs. 10) “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (vs. 12) Folks, 2017 is gone and we have a New Year-- 2018 to live and serve the Lord. May I challenge all of us to put the Lord FIRST? That means to “apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Sunday Evening I preached from Philippians 3:13 “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and pressing forth unto those things which are before.” (1) Forget our HURTS, (2) Forget our FAILURES, (3) Forget our SUCCESSES. This Sunday is the first Sunday of the New Year. How about starting the year off by being in the Lord’s House?

Everyone present last Sunday receive a “2018 Pocket Calendar.” We will be giving them out again this Sunday for those who did not get one last Sunday.

Our next big day is “Old Fashion Day” January 21, 2018. We have the “Bryar Patch and the Stickers” going to be providing our special music. Joshua Steven is a member of the group and will be playing different instruments and singing. Joshua Stevens is a faithful member of Fundamental Baptist Church. I’m excited about them being with us on our special day. We will have “dinner of the grounds” (pot-luck.) You may dress “old fashion” for the day. Start now to plan to attend and bring someone with you!
