I preached a message about “Growing Old Gracefully” in the Morning Service. “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and we fly away.”(Psalm 90:10) None of us are getting any younger, but older every day. We don’t know how long we will live, but we are to live for the Lord as long as we live.“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”(Psalm 90:12) I preached a message entitled, “Give Me That Mountain” in the Evening Service. “Now thereforegive me this mountain...And Joshua blessed him and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephenneh Hebron for an inheritance.”(Joshua 14:12a, 13) Caleb is a picture of the Child of God who wants all that God has for him. Canaanland, the Promised Land is a type of the victorious Christian life. By the way, Caleb was 85 years old at this time. “Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneth the Kenezite unto this day, because the wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.”(Joshua 14:14) The Bible says, “because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel” five times! Let’s claim our Mountain that God has given us!
Our next big Sunday is “Mission Emphasis Sunday”on March 17, 2019. Missionaries Glen & Sheri McGee (Ecuador) will be in Sunday School and Morning Service. Missionaries Jason & Arlen Stevens (Honduras) will be in the Evening Service. I am praying this will be a “Mini Mission Conference”ora boast to help us finished strong in our Faith Promise Commitment we made back in September. Maybe this special Mission Emphasis will cause others who are not involved to start giving to Missions!
Be sure to get a “Church Prayer List!”and PRAY!My Dad (Joe Miller) went home to be with his Lord yesterday. Please pray for your preacher and family. Please pray for Lyndall Shwartz Family and Cecelia Headrick Family who went home to be with their Lord yesterday. Neva and I love you very much!
Your Pastor, Bro. Gary
